Adobe Digital Editions and Privacy

As many of you may be aware, Adobe has confirmed that is has been logging data on the reading activity of people who use the free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) service and that it has been transmitting those logs to its servers as unencrypted text files, raising privacy and security concerns.  The Digital Shift has a very good article on their ebooks page about this issue with Adobe and tracking and logging a user's reading activity to provide certain ebook conveniences such as synching.

OverDrive issued a statement about this that can be found here: http://blogs.overdrive.com/front-page-library-news/2014/10/09/overdrives-statement-about-adobe-digital-editions-privacy-concerns/

We'll provide any updates on the WPLC website as we learn more.
