We have recently learned that OverDrive is terminating its partnership with Barnes & Noble for OverDrive Periodicals. The WPLC's current subscriptions will be available to patrons until the end of the subscription term in October, and following that, all periodicals will be removed from Wisconsin's Digital Library. As of July 25th, periodicals are no longer available for purchase in OverDrive Marketplace. Usage reports for periodicals will still be accessible through OverDrive Marketplace.
We will be working with the Steering Committee to create messaging for patrons to notify them of this change and we'll share that with the community as soon as possible.
OverDrive is working with publishers to establish their own periodical service, but the timeline for that is undefined. We will keep you updated on developments on that project as we learn more.
WiLS is working with Recorded Books (zinio) and EBSCO (Flipster) to provide discounted pricing to systems interested in sharing a magazine collection. Please contact Sara Gold (sgold@wils.org) for additional information or reach out to your WPLC Steering Committee representative.
