Content Reserve changes coming

Dear Colleagues,

Some big changes are coming to OverDrive’s Content Reserve in a few weeks.

Content Reserve is OverDrive’s web interface we use chiefly for purchasing digital books, for extracting usage reports, and for contacting their technical support. It’s accessible with a login ID and password. The upcoming changes will impact the WPLC Selection Committee the most, and for those who use the OverDrive Support form, it will affect you a little. For anyone else, consider this as an FYI of a behind-the-scenes upgrade. Nothing has to be done to prepare for the transition.

A detailed description of the changes will go out to the Selection Committee. Some of the other new features will include:

  • Expanded browser support: Content Reserve will be available for use in multiple browsers in addition to Internet Explorer, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and others.
  • Improved Support tab: In addition to a simple form to request assistance from OverDrive’s Support Services team, a new section has been added that shares the names and contact information for your library or school’s contacts at OverDrive. This will help connect users to the OverDrive team quickly and easily.
  • Simplified reports: The number of reports has been reduced, and data from some reports has either been consolidated or moved to a logical location elsewhere in Content Reserve. The layout of data within each report has been reconfigured for easy viewing and customization.

Community Reserve, the ability to upload local content or add local content submitted by other libraries in the OverDrive network, will not be available after November 30. WPLC hasn’t taken much advantage of this feature, but look for more information about it when it returns early next year.
